Spring Seasonal Practice - Weekly Movement Class (60 Min - Online - LIVE
INSTRUCTOR: HELEN
Join us for four seasonally inspired, foundational movement and meditation classes for the month of February.
Experience greater peace and vitality using easy joint opening, self-care, and contemplative exercises from yoga and qigong. Harmonize with spring energy and resonate with the rhythm of natural life.
In these four classes, we’ll look at the two seasonal energy patterns (called qi nodes in ancient China) for February; Beginning of Spring and Rain Water. We’ll consider how our bodies and minds synchronize with the seasons and how this might influence our practice.
February 1: Class One - SEED
We plant the seeds of practice for the year ahead. Imagine that we are below the soil, appreciating winter’s embrace, letting the seeds of our practice germinate effortlessly. The focus will include practices for the kidneys and the ears. Introducing the qigong Five Elements theory and practicing from the viewpoint of the model called “nourishing cycle.”
February 8: Class Two - NOURISHMENT
In the month of love, we learn to give heart presence to our practice. Moving from hands to heart. Discovering how to nourish our bodies, and taking inspiration from the spiritual animal of the turtle. Focus on the organs associated with both winter and spring, the kidneys and the liver.
February 15: Class Three - NEW SHOOTS
Growing our practice. Moving more fully into the spring season, expanding, trying our voice (shouting), twisting, and freeing up our energy. Focusing on the sensory organ for spring, the eyes.
February 22: Class Four - SPRING FLOWER
Imagine our practice blossoming like a spring bulb enjoying the sun. Finding the rhythm that is just right for the season and for you. Embracing movement, opening up. We focus on the spiritual animal of spring, the dragon.
