An experiential journey into the Daoist spirit of Zen and the Shinto heart of ceremonial tea

Join Gerow Reece and Cain Carroll, for this engaging weekend retreat at Zen Center Altbäckersmühle in Singhofen, Germany.

Gerow’s warm presence will welcome you into the remarkable experience of tea. Cain’s attuned guidance will lead you into an embodied exploration of key Dao-Zen principles and practices.

Together, in a circle of mutual support, we will trace historical threads to explore how the Daoist worldview, prevalent in ancient China before the arrival of Buddhism, provides key insights into the unique mindset and practice of Ch’an/Zen. With mindfully whisked bowls of matcha tea in hand, we will experience how Shinto, Japan’s indigenous spiritual culture, illuminates a deeper understanding and appreciation of Zen-Tea, human relatedness, and the sacredness of all life.

Join us in a relaxed and communal atmosphere as we integrate study, stillness, movement-based somatic practices (Qigong), and mindfulness into everyday activities.

Participants of all levels of experience are welcome.
